Performance Pitch was developed and tested by former Major League Baseball pitcher Bob Stanley. Stanley played for 13 years as a starting and relief pitcher and amassed over 100 wins and 100 saves in his career. He was twice named to the American League All-Star team in 1979 and 1983. Since his retirement in 1989, Stanley served as a minor league pitching coach across three organizations for more than 16 years.
From a hotel towel to Performance Pitch…
Stanley always wanted something more from the “towel drill”. He wanted the ability to replicate the action of throwing but in the most realistic way. He wanted to have his players work on their mechanics, build up their arm speed and delivery without throwing a baseball. What once began as a hotel towel wrapped across his fingers, quickly transformed into what we call Performance Pitch. From training tape to a golf ball, to a drilled baseball with a towel running through it. Hundreds of sides by both major and minor leaguers and many alterations, Performance Pitch was developed.
Performance Pitch allows you to have the look and feel of a
true baseball… leather wrapping, core center and hand stitched laces.
